Stress Buster

(Head and foot massage, plus Shirodhara)

 

The session begins with a refreshing cup of ayurvedish herbal tea and a consultation with our resident Sri-Lankan Ayurveda practitioner.

 

The treatment that follows is designed to relieve tension throughout the whole body. Particular attention is paid to problem zones: back, shoulders and neck. Using a high quality herbal oil, formulated individually for the patient, the therapist massages the whole body. The effect is a stimulation of the circulation, an increase in energy, an easing of tension, and generally a deep feeling of relaxation and refreshment.

 

The treatment is completed with Shirodhara; a traditional Ayurveda forehead affusion. This is a classic method of combating pain and stress. In the procedure a flow of warm oils is directed onto the "third eye" point of the forehead. This is designed to achieve a release of natural chemicals in the brain, including seroronin, well known to promote a feeling of well-being. Additionally, energy flow is said to be activated along the spinal column which helps to bring spirit into a peaceful state.

 

Deep relaxation of the nervous system combats mental agitation, stress, angst, depression and chronic headaches. Further claimed benefits include the strengthening of the sense organs, an improvement in sleep disorder problems, as well as a reduction of hair loss and premature greying.
